Drawing on his own experiences of anxiety from childhood, Mingyur Rinpoche will explore Buddhist understandings of mind in comprehensible terms through stories, science, and humor. His talk will apply these principles both towards the education of the audience in Buddhist psychology as well as personal transformation, focusing on China and Inner Asia, though Buddhist themes are relatable to all.

Speaker’s Bio: Mingyur Rinpoche is a renowned Tibetan Buddhist master and meditation teacher, hallmarked for bridging traditional Buddhist practice with contemporary psychology. Through Rinpoche’s teachings, the practice of meditation and Buddhist wisdom and compassion are made pertinent and accessible to a wider audience. 

Recognized as the 7th incarnation of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, Rinpoche has received important transmissions from eminent masters like Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, Tai Situ Rinpoche, Nyoshul Khen Rinpoche, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and more. He is currently the abbot of Sherab Ling Monastery,  Tergar Rigzin Khachö Targyé Ling Monastery, and Tergar Osel Ling Monastery, located in Keori and Bodh Gaya, India, and Kathmandu, Nepal, respectively. Recently, he opened a shedra (monastic college) for lay practitioners that aims to bring traditional texts to life through experience. 

Rinpoche has a long lasting interest in science and has taken part in groundbreaking research about meditation at the University of Wisconsin that was reported on in publications like National Geographic and Time. Rinpoche serves as an advisor to the Mind & Life Institute, founded in Charlottesville, VA, by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Francisco Varela and R. Adam Engle, and is a participant in its yearly conferences.

Rinpoche has broadened his reach through his New York Times bestselling book, his platform Tergar, which offers global meditation programs and retreats, and other public appearances.
