Dr. Lauran Hartley has been appointed as the new Associate Research Scholar and Director of the Modem Tibetan Studies Program (MTSP) at the Weatherhead East Asian Institute at Columbia University. As part of her appointment, Lauran will also be teaching courses for the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures.
Having served as Tibetan Studies Librarian in the C.V. Starr East Asian Library for nearly 15 years, Lauran’s outstanding contributions during her tenure at the Starr Library include establishing the largest Tibetan Studies Collection at any North American university, with many unique archival and special collections. We look forward to Lauran taking the lead of the MTSP and the new directions the program will pursue under her leadership. She will start her new position on Oct. 1st, 2021.
